School History
Scoil Mhuire Naofa Kiltale is situated on the edge of the village of Kiltale and shares a strong tradition of voluntary community partnership working for the benefit of the people of the parish. Pupils attending the school come mainly from the local and well defined catchment area.
The original school was erected in Kiltale where the parish hall stands today, on a site donated by the Earl of Fingal in 1842. There were approximately sixty pupils and the little house next door was the teacher’s residence.
In 1951 funds were raised in the parish and the present school was started with two teachers. The school has continued to grow down through the years and currently there are 99 pupils with five teachers, one SNA and our school secretary.
